MATTHEW J. KELLY, Born Rockville Centre, New York, January 16, 1954. He received his preparatory education from Cornell University, 1975, B.S. and his legal degree from Buffalo Law School, 1979, J.D. He was admitted to Bar in 1980, New York; Northern District of New York; 1982, U.S. District Court; Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, 1989, U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit, 1995 Western District of New York; Member: Defense Research Institute of Northeastern, New York, Albany Claims Association, New York State Bar Association - Member of House of Delegates, 1996-2000; Executive Committee 2000-2001; Past President of the Albany County Bar Association 1999-2000; Committee on Civil Practice, Law & Rules; Appointed Mediator, U.S. District Court - 1998-Present; Staff Counsel: New York Public Service Commission 1979-1983; Commentator & Lecturer New York State Bar Association 1992, 1998, 2001; President's Award 1992, Albany County Bar Association; Black, Latino, Asian & Pacific American Student Association Award for Development of Diversity Internship Program 2000. Mr. Kelly has defended several different companies over the years, and has conducted numerous trials bringing many to verdict. He is an experienced trial attorney, well versed in the areas of negligence, intentional torts, products liability and real property issues. He has lectured in the areas Trial Practice and Insurance Coverage for the New York State Bar Association, Albany County Bar Association, Association of Mutual Insurance Companies of New York, and Albany Claims Association. He has argued matters before the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, The New York Court of Appeals, and The United States Court of Appeals, Second Circuit. |
